There are two main types of paper towel holder types. The first is the standing holder which usually consists of a base with a center rod to hold the towels. The standing holders usually has a top piece that screws on top so that the paper towel roll stays securely in place and does not come off the rod when being used.
The other type of towel holders is the wall mount design. This design is very similar to a toilet paper roll holder. The holder mounts on the wall and the center rod is either held into place via springs or holding brackets on the side. This type of holder allows for someone to pull the paper towels toward them from the wall and access the towels in that manner.
