Don't use your glass or ceramic bake ware anywhere but in a gas, electric or microwave oven. Don't use them under a broiler or on the stove top. Also, be sure potholders are dry when handling a hot dish. Be careful when using sharp utensils. An impact with the utensil could crack, break or scratch your Anchor Hocking dish. If the dish becomes scratched or cracked, throw it away.
Use only plastic or nylon scratch pads. Allow dishes to soak before using non-scratch cleansers. Never use metal or steel wool scrubbers, or scratch food away with a knife or metal utensil. Soaking in hot soapy water will loosen baked on food enough that a plastic or nylon scrubber and cleansers suitable for glass will remove it.
Watch the temperature changes. When removing your Anchor Hocking bake ware from the freezer, allow it to thaw before placing it in the oven. Don't put hot bake ware on a cold or wet counter top, and don't add cold liquid to a hot dish. When using an Anchor Hocking pitcher, keep in mind that it was designed for cold beverages only, so don't use it with hot beverages at all. Also, don't put ice cubes in the pitcher and then pour a hot beverage over the cubes. Be sure tea is cooled before pouring over ice, for instance.
Etching is a film caused by a combination of high water temperature, too much dishwashing detergent and soft water. To avoid etching on your glassware keep your water temperature at 140 degrees or below, use the smallest amount of detergent possible (as low as one tablespoon) and wash fewer glasses at a time to allow for better rinsing. The first sign of etching is a rainbow hue on the glass, so watch for that to avoid doing further damage. Also, don't stack drink ware, or place it in the microwave. Keep utensils away from drink ware, and don't pick up several pieces at once like a bouquet.
If you follow these tips, your Anchor Hocking bake ware and other items should last for years.
