Portable propane heaters are used to heat areas that are not so warm or insulated, such as patios, garages and gardens. These heaters use gas under extreme pressure to generate the heat. They can be taken to any location and are self contained which means that they have their own supply of gas. They need not be hooked to any external source of gas or electricity. The use of propane heaters is more in the business of construction and planning. Most of the propane gas heaters have adjustable heat control so that your comfort level can be optimized and are also weather resistant so you can store them for a long time and they would not be rusted. Small size and lightweight makes it portable and convenient. They can also be used as tabletop heaters. The fuel that these heaters utilize is also not very expensive. These heaters come in various shapes and sizes. British Thermal Units rate these heaters, which measures the output of energy. These ratings are in line with the area the heater is used for heating. If the room were around hundred square feet, it would only require ten thousand British Thermal Units of power whereas a warehouse or your garden might require two hundred thousand of British Thermal Units. Vent or electricity is not required for these heaters. You can light them by match and move them conveniently all round. Some are tall and have a hooded shield that helps to reflect the heat downwards and the hood is called a "torchiere". Some are box like and are called radiant or convection heaters and unlike torchiere heaters, they are used to heat sheds, garages, workshops and the like. The latter uses the natural air to circulate the heat. Since propane requires oxygen to burn these heaters would not function in an enclosed space.
Advantages
- It does not require a mounting like a floor, wall or ceiling as it does for a permanent one.
- To get a permanent heater, it requires a building permit which is obviously not required in case of a permanent heater.
- Permanent heaters require electricity to power the fan which portable ones do not require.
- In case of permanent heaters vent is required to the outside whereas the same is not required for portable heaters.
Portable Propane Grill
Most of the gas grills use propane as its fuel, mostly liquid propane, that is, LP. It has the advantage that it comes in a portable tank and is readily available. The gas is kept under pressure because propane changes to liquid at -43 degree Celsius, so it has to be compressed which remains liquefied until uncompressed. Outdoor grilling is preferable since at times when there are guests at the house, you might want to relax in your garden so portable grills are a great help. It is like any other grill which has a cooking surface made of parallel metal bars or a porcelain covered metal grid, placed over a fuel source capable of producing immense heat, which might go up to temperatures like 500 degree Fahrenheit. A gas grill has a gas source, hoses, valve regulators, burners, starters, cooking surface, grill body and grill hood. The gas source or propane source is connected to the valve regulators through the main hose and the knobs control the regulators that regulate the amount of gas flowing and the heat generated.
Propane is energy efficient and these heaters give out very less emissions that are lowest after natural gas. Propane is portable and absolutely not risky. They are economical and environment friendly and come as a savior when the mercury starts dropping.
